Hyderabad/Rajampet — In the bustling streets of Hyderabad, where food delivery riders rush against time, one young man is fighting a different battle — inside the boxing ring. Vamsi Krishna, a delivery boy by profession and a boxer by passion, is steadily earning recognition at both national and international levels.

Born in Upper Mandapalle village, Rajampet mandal, Annamayya district, Andhra Pradesh, Vamsi’s life has been a story of grit and perseverance. He lost his father at a very young age, leaving his mother and three elder sisters dependent on him. From then on, Vamsi became the family’s strength — balancing responsibilities at home with an unshakable dream of becoming a boxing champion.

Rising from Tragedy

In 2021, disaster struck when the Annamayya floods — a dam tragedy that devastated parts of the district — completely destroyed their home. Along with their belongings, all of Vamsi’s hard-earned medals, certificates, and memories were swept away. But even in the face of such immense loss, he refused to give up.

His coach, Master Anand Achari, who had spotted Vamsi’s potential when he was just seven years old, stepped in to help. Knowing the boy couldn’t afford proper training, Coach Anand supported him entirely, providing equipment, guidance, and hope.

The Road to Glory

Vamsi began his journey in Thai boxing and karate, where he quickly started winning medals in various tournaments. His first major victory came in 2019 at a Kurnool boxing tournament, where he won a gold medal. This success was followed by several national and international wins — including gold at the National Thai Boxing Championship in Gujarat and another at an international Thai boxing event in Goa.

Despite working long hours for Zomato, Swiggy, and Rapido, Vamsi trained tirelessly every day. His commitment paid off when he bagged a gold medal in a traditional boxing tournament in Nepal in August last year. To date, he has earned five certificates in Thai boxing, 12 medals in karate, and over 20 medals across state, national, and international boxing tournaments.

A Message of Hope and Discipline

Vamsi believes that financial struggles should never stop anyone from pursuing their dreams. He urges the government to provide better support and sponsorship for talented youth from economically weaker backgrounds, saying, “With proper encouragement, India can achieve Olympic glory.”

He also shares a strong message for today’s youth — to spend less time on social media and channel that energy into productive paths like sports, fitness, or skill-building. “Discipline can change your destiny,” he says, speaking from experience.

Support and Recognition

Vamsi’s efforts recently caught the attention of Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and Kodur Jana Sena MLA Arava Sridhar, who provided financial aid to flood-affected families, including Vamsi’s.

His mother, Lakshmi Devi, expressed deep pride in her son’s perseverance. Despite ongoing financial hardship and lack of government pension support, she remains hopeful that his success will inspire other rural youth to dream big.

Coach Anand Achari, who continues to guide him, says proudly, “I knew from the beginning that Vamsi had something special. He has trained with me for over seven years without giving up once. Today, he’s not just a fighter — he’s a symbol of determination for our entire district.”

The Fighter’s Spirit

From delivering food orders across Hyderabad to delivering knockout punches in the ring, Vamsi Krishna’s story is one of pure resilience. His rise from hardship to heroism proves that no dream is too distant when fueled by passion and persistence.

Upper Mandapalle now celebrates him as a local hero — a young man who fought life’s toughest battles both inside and outside the ring, and emerged victorious.
